Manny Retires As The Idiot He Truly Is

An idiot. A fool. A talented disgrace.

Manny Ramirez retired due to his second positive test for PED’s. A second time, really Manny? After being suspended 50 games with the Dodgers, Manny Ramirez clearly did not learn his lesson , as he did not take action to be clean. Instead of facing a 100 game suspension, the coward retired.

Manny Ramirez was arguably the best right handed hitter in the game of baseball in the late 90’s to mid 2000’s, behind Pujols and maybe Guerrero. For his career he batted, .312 with 555 homeruns and won a World Series title with the Red Sox in 2004 and 2007. As a 12 time All-Star, Manny was a feared hitter, not fielder, as he could get on base in many ways and continually sprayed hits to all fields. He was a run producing machine and batted in feared lineups with Jim Thome and David Ortiz. ¬†As the terrific hitter he was, the questions do not stop with PED use.

“Manny being Manny”¬†became a slogan for Manny’s antics like peeing in the Green Monster in between innings. It was an excuse. It was all fun and games until Manny’s idiocy got in the way of his playing. People in Boston loved Manny until he refused to play and was traded for the Dodgers where “Mannywood” was formed based on pure amusement and one of the greatest displays of hitting over a 53 game span after the trade to LA (.396, 17 homers, 53 RBI and 74 hits). It is a shame Manny’s attitude and mouth got in the way of his play again in LA by saying he didn’t “know” if he would return to the Dodgers.

Manny’s act was really cute and funny but it did carry on to the field, as he would continue to not run out ground balls and angering managers and teammates everywhere he played. It is a shame that his PED use and “Manny being Manny” circus caused him the reputation of being the “idiot” he claimed himself to be.

He won two world series. The stats are there, but the Hall of Fame will not be. Voters will be turned off by his PED use, twice, and at times his detriment to his team and winning. It is sad to see that such a dominant hitter, could not keep the little mind he had, only on playing the game hard. He will not be remembered for his gaudy bat or clutch hitting, but his antics and dishonesty. The one thing teams would have feared most in baseball over the years, a truly dedicated, clean and motivated Manny Ramirez.
